If you want to change something, or do something better, you a) don’t have to wait until an arbitrary time marker (a new calendar year) to do it. Additionally, if you make a New Year’s resolution, by definition it’s something you want to do in the whole next year. So say you make a new year’s resolution for 2018 to lose weight, if you go to the gym and do 20 minutes of cardio, after 364 days of complete inactivity, eating donuts for dinner and ice cream for lunch, well you fulfilled your resolution.
